At the start of the pandemic, many people realized that life is fickle, it begs the question of what if something happened to us or our family? Situations and scenarios that are vastly out of our control; a global pandemic for example. Many lawyers advise you to establish a living trust also known as an estate plan. The truth is establishing a living trust is an uncomfortable topic. People usually push off talking about life after death. Some words that are used when talking about making a trust are overwhelmed, anxious, worried, and nervous. How can the For Living Trust Technology alleviate some of those pain points? Our clients didn’t leave their homes so we wanted to build a technology that could combine convenience and the trust of getting it done from your living room couch.

Users lack confidence and knowledge on how a living trust work, almost all users say they are "confused and overwhelmed" and don’t feel educated enough to start. There’s no market for attorney-client experience & efficient technology. Companies such as LegalZoom and Trust&Will offer “pre-made,” “templatize,” and “downloadable” forms. No customization for equal clients and no attorney-client relationship included.
The problem is the “old school way” of getting a trust is done through retaining an attorney and is a lengthy & expensive task. Many people put off creating a Will or Trust, and the emotional toll of thinking. There's also the unconscious bias of hiring an attorney, the old school way of “drafting a trust.” There’s an unconscious bias if hiring an attorney, it’s an expensive and complicated process.

+ How do we create that process of trust and technology through such a sensitive of a topic as death? We combine human and technology.
After the findings we were able to establish a user flow on the user side & admin (background automation). Created multiple scenerios that could occur when users interact with our site.

These are just a few wireframes and findings. The idea is bring an attorney on as an assistant which is why there is an attorney facing interface. The idea is to connect multiple attorneys on staff to help clients make those big decisions. An accessible approach to having an attorney readily available. An all in one package, at half the cost of retaining an attorney & going to a notary to finalize. Transparent pricing.
Connecting it through scheduling apps, calendars, calls, email, and so as shown on the dashboard for attorney & client.With this i hope the users feel secure through transparency with all the steps shown, being able to talk to an attorney in an all in one platform. Transforming their mindset about attorneys and the lengthy, scary process of doing a living trust.
As for attorneys, this will make their workflow much easier, to be able to keep track of clients in an all in one interface. Also automation of documents will help with leads and prospect, in able to gather more clients and turn them into long life customers. Working on this project during the pandemic has made be more empathetic towards users who are uncertain about the future. With the interview and research that went to it, I really got to be closer with the clients and understand their needs during this time. Creating something unique for FORLIVINGTRUST was difficult because i had zero knowledge of this industry.
After a year, i really got to create trust and got my hands in all areas with the start-up! I hope to see the ideas come to fruition even with the early stages now.
